The rules
The races will be held in Semi-Pro mode,
which means that Anti-lock brakes are the only aid allowed beside Autoclutch. The hud view is
allowed as an alternative to the in-car view
Generally, you are asked to behave properly,
which means:
- Be careful in the first corner
- When you spin or leave the track, LOOK before reentering the racing line. If
other cars are approaching, you have to wait
- Drive fair, and brake early enough not to crash into others back
- If you are a fast guy and behind a slower one because you e.g. spinned, tough
luck. Flashing lights or kicking is absolutely unfair. If you lose time before
you can pass, better luck next time. Slower racers are also racers to be
respected
- Blocking is allowed, but the general rule of only changing the line once on a
straigth should apply (don't drive left & right on the straigth all the time
to block)
- If you make a mistake, say sorry
If someone behaves excessively wrong, the racing community will decide
after the race whether you will be asked to join the next race or not. Just
making a mistake every now or then is not considered as excessively. We will
have a look at the replay if there is any doubt.
In the complete winter season 05/06 we had no
need for any action !!!
Please check your PC for background events (e.g. Skype, Messenger) that could
pop up during race and ruin it and turn them off before the race. I've noticed
GTL to be way less sensible to it than LfS, but it still happens that a
background process kills your race and eventually other's races when they are
close to you the moment it happens.
We will only allow gamers with a fast internet
connection to join in order to have a nice online racing experience. You should
have an ISDN, DSL or comparable connection. If you lag like hell, we will remove
you during qualifying. Sorry this is not polite, but the only chance to make the
whole thing a nice experience for all of us.
In the unlikely event of a mass crash in
the first corner we might restart the race. There will be no restarts after that.
Tough luck is tough luck.
Update: As some drivers feel distracted by chat during
qualification (well, during race this shouldn't be a topic as people have to
drive...) the gentleman's agreement should read as follows: Use the open
training session for all sort of chat, but please reduce to the minimum during
qualification. "Exiting pit" msgs are not required during qualification-
if you exit, you are on a warmup lap anyway, so you can carefully drive on the
right hand side and slowly get back on the track, having a look for approaching
cars. During race, "Thank you" and short things like that are okay.
